A Journey Through The First 38 Days...

Friends, Romans, Floridians (& Non-Floridians), lend us your eyes and cognitive processes! In this APT203 update, we'll be taking you on a journey through the past 38 days of events that have transpired.

To begin, we've implemented what we like to call "Muffin Mondays." Every Monday morning, we, for some reason, wake up at the crack of dawn and discuss one topic, while enjoying delicious muffins. This week's topic was the "Rock Of Gibraltar." We pretty much decided that the Rock of Gibraltar was pretty awesome, just kinda hangs out next to Morocco and does it's own thing... can't complain about that...

The next item of business is "Brunch Thursday." Brunch Thursday is a magnificent opportunity to enjoy brunch... on Thursday! Really, that pretty much sums it up...

Living here for about a month, we've gotten to meet our neighbors on many different occasions. Luckily they're all really nice! So far, we know the family that lives downstairs, as well as all of the occupants of the house next door! No complaints or problems have come up, so so far so good!

Towards the beginning of their stay, Rupert and Chris decided to go through with a brilliant plan that was tossed back and forth all last year. The plan; a chalk wall! That's right, converting an entire wall into a chalk board. After much searching, they found the special paint required and got to work! We now have a wall of the apartment chalk full of awesomeness!

There was a kraken... there isn't one anymore...

On to the furniture adventures! Let's start out by establishing that we are, in no way, above dumpster diving! An entertainment center, end table, two chairs, and a coffee table frame were all indirectly gifted to us by total strangers. The coffee table became a nice project, costing us only $7 for a piece of lumber and $6 for some classy Golden Oak wood stain. Two shelves that perfectly match the aforementioned entertainment center were passed on to us by John-Michael and Dominique. Of course, Goodwill wasn't neglected in our endeavors. We got a pretty little purple chest for $10 (which we naturally painted black) and the piece de resistance is our Gumball machine, for only $9.99! One side for sweets, and the other side is for fruit =) So, all of our apartment decor came to a grand total of $33, not to shabby, though donations are still accepted!

Naturally, with furniture, one accumulates a great deal of boxes... we however, didn't get any of our furniture out of boxes, though still managed to obtain quite a few boxes (Mostly used for the surprise pirate maze). What does any rational group of 20-21 year olds do with large quantities of boxes? A box fort, of course! Our Castillo De San Box Fort stood strong for about a week! The time, inevitably came, however, to chuck all of them over the side of the staircase, then sled and dive headfirst, down the stairs, into them! Sadly, the box fort is no more, but it's memory will live strong, solidified in our minds, as strong as the cardboard it was made out of!
